Seattle, WA — March 19, 2010 – Seattle Out and Proud (SOaP), producers of the annual Seattle Pride® Parade, is excited to announce a dynamic collaboration for this year’s inaugural Seattle Pride Family Picnic with Esurance, the direct-to consumer personal auto insurance company.
SOaP is enthusiastic about Esurance’s participation in the Seattle Pride Family Picnic, scheduled at Volunteer Park on Sunday, June 13, 2010. The picnic welcomes the LGBT community and allied families. In addition to an Esurance photo booth, kids between 7 and 11 years old will enjoy a Soap Box Car installation.
SOaP’s president, Eric Albert-Gauthier, said, “One of the points consistently raised by many in the LGBT community is that, other than the parade itself, Pride Month doesn’t have enough family-oriented or under-21 events. The Seattle Pride Family Picnic is sure to become one of our most attended and enjoyed events. With the park setting, great food and music, Soap Box Cars, and the support of sponsors like Esurance, it’s going to be hard to find a better place to be on June 13th.”
With Esurance also on board as presenting sponsor of “Pride Idol,” the hugely popular talent search and surprise hit of Pride 2009 is revving up again. To find the best vocalists in the area, preliminary auditions are scheduled to begin in April. Winners of the talent search will be awarded cash and additional prizes and get to ride on the official Seattle Pride Idol float, also presented by Esurance, in the Seattle Pride Parade on June 27. Schedule of Pride Idol events are listed below. All Pride Idol events will take place at R Place on Capitol Hill.

Seattle Out & Proud helps to connect community members, commemorate our heritage, and achieve equal rights in Seattle—one of the most fantastic cities in the world.
